The Platform Mobile Messaging Association (SPMM) research is responsible for the applied research and the promotion of Cell Broadcast together and in conjunction with the Dutch government and private parties.

Cell Broadcast is tested by the Dutch Government during a multi operator trial in The Netherlands. SPMM research is also active in the EU research program FP6 (Mobile Cell Broadcasting for Emergency Warnings to the Citizen) which started in 2006 and will last untill 2009.

Management

The management of the foundation is controlled and advised by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board. The advisory Board consists of representatives from four major areas of attention: the government, communication, technology and telecommunication.

Responsibilities

The Association is responsible for:

  • Promote the use of Cell Broadcast by the Government and in the private sector.
  • Inform the public about the possibilities of Cell Broadcast.
  • Applied research into new usage areas for Cell Broadcast.
  • Research into new technologies and methods to warn civilians in an emergency situation
